There were some special guests in the audience at North Reading High School’s production of “A Christmas Story: The Musical” over the weekend. Four of the actors from the 1983 movie on which the musical is based stopped by to see the show while in town for Northeast Comic Con at Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington. “We’re all friends, so it’s a weekend out with the guys,” Scott Schwartz, who played Flick in the holiday film. Schwartz was joined by Yano Anaya, who played Grover Dill; Zack Ward, who was Scut Farkus; and Ian Petrella, who played Randy. The movie, which was directed, improbably, by Bob Clark, whose previous film was the teen sex comedy “Porky’s,” didn’t do much business at the box office but it’s typically in heavy rotation on cable during the holidays. The North Reading High School production of “A Christmas Story: The Musical” was the first ever put on by students. Petrella said he likes to meet with fans of the film, but he doesn’t get the chance too often. “We love doing [conventions]. I love doing them,” he said. “I wish I could do them all year, but unfortunately I’m in a frickin’ holiday film, so I only have one chance a year to do them.”John Vitti can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
