Simmons College planned to announce next week that actress Eva Longoria will be one of the speakers at this year’s Simmons Leadership Conference. But after her performance at Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards, the school couldn’t keep mum. In case you missed it, Longoria and America Ferrera were onstage to present the award for best actor in a TV drama, but first clarified that they are not Gina Rodriguez and Eva Mendes. (The Golden Globes last month posted a tweet misidentifying Ferrera as Rodriguez, which reinforced some people’s impression that Hollywood views all non-white stars alike.) Capitalizing on the buzz about the damning joke, Simmons tweeted Monday that Longoria will be one of the featured speakers at the March 29 conference. Geena Davis will also talk.
