Actor Jake Gyllenhaal (inset) and Boston Marathon bombing survivor Jeff Bauman, whom Gyllenhaal is playing in the new movie “Stronger,” will serve as honorary co-captains of the Boston Medical Center marathon squad, Team BMC. The men will join the runners at their annual pre-race pasta dinner on April 17. The night will be emceed by former Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo.

“Stronger” films in Boston this spring, but Gyllenhaal, who’s also a producer on the movie, has been spotted around town for the past few months. His restaurants of choice have included Whole Heart Provisions in Allston and Cinquecento in the South End.

The film “Stronger” is adapted from Bauman’s memoir about the 2013 Boston Marathon, and how he helped with the investigation. Bauman was at the race that year to cheer on his now-wife, Erin, who’ll be played by Tatiana Maslany in the film. Bauman lost his legs in the bombing.
