Producers of “Patriots Day,” the movie about the Boston Marathon bombings, have added another actor to the cast. Kevin Bacon will join Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman, J.K. Simmons, Michelle Monaghan, Jimmy O. Yang, Vincent Curatola, and James Colby in director Peter Berg’s big-screen take on the tragic events of April 15, 2013. Bacon knows his way around Boston having filmed “Mystic River,” “R.I.P.D.,” and “Black Mass” here. Bacon will play the FBI’s Richard DesLauriers (above). “Richard DesLauriers worked tirelessly as one of the key figures in an impossibly sophisticated investigation and Kevin Bacon possesses the intelligence and empathy to portray him,” Berg said in a statement. The movie began filming at a private home in Quincy this week. Scenes of the bombings will be shot at the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station, on a replica of Boylston Street.
