New Edition’s Michael Bivins was among the speakers at a Berklee panel about diversity — or the lack of it — in the music business. The day-long event, presented by the student-led After Berklee Panel Series (ABPS) and Women in Music, the event was intended to give graduating seniors a sense of what they can expect. Joining Bivins were Tatia Adams Fox, former marketing VP at Warner Music Group, and “Empire” actor Bryshere Gray, who, incidentally, will be in an upcoming biopic miniseries about New Edition on BET. Both Fox and Bivins cited Ryan Leslie as an artist who monetized his fanbase through analytics. A separate panel featured Becky Yee, founder of Around Digital Media, Anastasia Wright, founder of IMG Agency; Elizabeth Chan, CEO of Merry Bright Music; and Militia Vox, frontwoman of Judas Priestess.
