Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen missing from Met Gala

The Met Gala, the evening of excess that marks the opening of the annual fashion exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, drew an A-list crowd Monday night. But Patriots QB Tom Brady and his supermodel spouse, Gisele Bundchen, took a pass this year. Earlier Monday, Bundchen posted a picture on Instagram captioned: “Hola Cuba!” We can’t say for sure what the glamazon is doing in Fidel Castro’s country, but Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld is unveiling the house’s Resort 2017 collection in Havana on Tuesday. (Over the weekend, Bundchen and Brady were in the Big Apple, where Gi sauntered into the Spring Fling book launch in a revealing silver sequin dress by Julien Macdonald.) We’re guessing Brady didn’t want to make the Met Gala scene without his Brazilian better half. As always, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour chaired the fashion fete, and this year’s honorary chair was Taylor Swift, with cohosts Idris Elba and Apple’s chief design officer, Jonathan Ive. Given the tech theme of the Costume Institute’s exhibit this year — it’s titled “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” — some of the looks on the red carpet were out of this world. Among those on the gussied-up guest list were Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, Newton’s John Krasinski and wife Emily Blunt, Mindy Kaling, Rihanna, Emma Stone, and Sarah Jessica Parker.
