On screen, Sudbury native Chris Evans is a brawny superhero, but there’s more to Captain America than meets the eye. The actor is among several celebrities enlisted by W magazine to sing a Prince song to celebrate what would have been the dearly departed singer’s 58th birthday on Tuesday. (Prince died April 21 of an apparent drug overdose.) In the video posted by W, Evans says he’d rather do an interpretive dance than sing. But then he trills the chorus of Prince’s “Diamonds and Pearls,” and he isn’t half bad. “That’s it. That’s what you’re getting and that’s a wrap,” he says at the end. Others singing — or, in some cases, speaking Prince — include Kit Harington, Nate Parker, Cindy Crawford, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Elle Fanning.
