Country music icon Dolly Parton was in Lenox on Friday evening to make her Tanglewood debut, performing hits — such as “Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You,” and “Coat of Many Colors” — that will appear on her upcoming double-disc album, “Pure and Simple With Dolly’s Biggest Hits,” which will be released later this summer. Tanglewood’s opening weekend also featured performances by Earth, Wind & Fire on Saturday and, on Sunday, Brian Wilson and former Beach Boys Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin.
