Actor-comedian Sinbad was in town Tuesday to emcee the Berklee City Music scholarship concert. During the event eight young musicians were awarded four-year, full-tuition scholarships to attend Berklee College of Music. The recipients include two local students, Francesca Canepa of East Boston and Junilda “Muñeca” Diaz of Charlestown, as well as William David Southall of Pinole, Calif., David Kile of Westerville, Ohio; Zabrina Hay of Vancouver , British Columbia; William Graves of Memphis; and Ariyan Brister of New Orleans. The other scholarship recipient — Orlando Gilbert of New Orleans — is scheduled to perform at Dillon’s on Boylston Street on Aug. 11. The event is a benefit for Tipitina’s Foundation, a non-profit that provides music education in the New Orleans public schools.
