Norman is one lucky cat. The 14-week-old stray feline was mere days from being euthanized in a Florida shelter when WBZ radio’s Dan Rea and Tampa police officer Daniel McDonald came to the rescue. The story: McDonald found Norman and knew the local shelter would put him down within two days if he wasn’t adopted. McDonald — a graduate of Boston University and loyal listener of Rea’s “NightSide” show — called in to ask for the radio host’s help finding Norman a new home. Becky Wilkin of East Providence, who had just lost her senior dog and cat in the same week, called in immediately, offering to give Norman a permanent home. McDonald flew with the cat from Florida to Boston, and an official adoption ceremony took place at WBZ studios before Norman settled in at his new Rhode Island digs with Wilkin.
