The celebrated Canadian writer Margaret Atwood was at Brandeis this week to speak to incoming freshmen. The novelist/poet who's been shortlisted several times for the prestigious Book Prize discussed her post-apocalyptic novel, "Oryx and Crake," at the school's annual orientation event "New Student Forum." Many of the 800 or so first-year students asked Atwood questions and later had the 76-year-old writer sign copies of her books. Earlier in the evening, Atwood was the guest of honor at a dinner with Brandeis faculty and staff, including new president Ron Liebowitz.
