Boston Common magazine hosted a party at Strega Waterfront in honor of its latest cover model, David Ortiz. Among the many familiar faces at the soiree were Governor Charlie Baker and first lady Lauren Baker, comedian and actor Lenny Clarke, restaurateur Steve DiFillippo, Herb Chambers, Fast Freddy, and Celtics players Isaiah Thomas, Kelly Olynyk, and Jae Crowder. At one point during the evening, Nick Varano and Boston Common magazine publisher Glenn Kelley presented a cake (shaped like a Rex Sox jersey, of course) to Ortiz. But the highlight of the night had to be the live auction, during which Big Papi tossed out autographed baseballs to the crowd and raised $22,000 (in just six minutes!) for the David Ortiz Children’s Fund.
