Nari Ward, a former artist-in-residence at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, was recently awarded a $100,000 Vilcek Prize in Fine Arts from the Vilcek Foundation. Based in New York, the foundation was established in 2000 to raise awareness of the contributions that immigrants make to American society.

Ward was born in Jamaica and immigrated to the United States when he was 12. He and the other prizewinners will be honored at an awards gala in New York City in April.
