Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Dr. Priscilla Chan, met with students at Quincy High School Tuesday.
Initially, there were few details about the visit as the couple had asked school officials to be discreet. But both Zuckerberg and Chan posted about the stopover afterward on Facebook.
Chan grew up in Quincy and was valedictorian of QHS’s Class of 2003. A graduate of Harvard and the University of California San Francisco, Chan is a pediatrician. She and Zuckerberg have a 1½-year-old daughter, Max.
In the past week, Zuckerberg and Chan, who live in California, have been back east celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary. Over the weekend, the couple was in Maine, where they hiked a portion of the Appalachian Trail and met with a group of residents and businesspeople in Millinocket, a former mill town adjacent to Baxter State Park.

Zuckerberg and Chan are among the wealthiest people in the world, and have pledged to use their fortune for charitable causes. Last fall, they announced plans to invest at least $3 billion over the next decade in efforts to prevent, cure, or manage all diseases by the end of the century.
