“Slender Man,” a horror film inspired by the creepy fictional figure that became an Internet phenomenon, will be made around Boston this summer.
The movie’s director is Sylvain White, who has helmed episodes of “The Americans,” “Sleepy Hollow,” and “The Originals.” According to Deadline, it will star Joey King of “The Conjuring,” Annalise Basso (inset) of “Ouija: Origin of Evil,” and Jaz Sinclair of “Paper Towns.”
The Slender Man mythology — introduced by Eric Knudsen — made headlines in 2014 when two 12-year-old Wisconsin girls were charged with attempted homicide for stabbing another girl to impress Slender Man, who they claimed was real. HBO made a documentary about the mythology and the controversy called “Beware the Slenderman.”
We’re told local filming will run from June 19 to July 28.
