There’s no shortage of work for local film folks.
In addition to all the movies we’ve already told you about — “X-Men: The New Mutants,” “Daddy’s Home 2,” “The Burning Woman,” “Proud Mary,” and “Slender Man” — cameras will start rolling soon on Amy Schumer’s new comedy.
Word is Schumer will be shooting her latest, called “I Feel Pretty,” in Massachusetts. The movie stars Schumer as a young woman who hits her head while falling off an exercise bike and suddenly feels bold and beautiful. Actress Michelle Williams, who was nominated for an Oscar for her role in “Manchester by the Sea,” will costar as Schumer’s boss at a cosmetics company.
It’s not clear when shooting will start.
“X-Men: The New Mutants,” directed by Josh Boone, whose credits include “The Fault in Our Stars,” is expected to film some scenes at Medfield State Hospital, a former psychiatric hospital that was used by director Martin Scorsese as a backdrop in “Shutter Island.” (According to The Hollywood Reporter, Blu Hunt, who appeared in a few episodes of “The Originals,” has been plucked from relative obscurity to play Danielle Moonstar, the Native American telepath.)
Meanwhile, “The Burning Woman,” starring flame-haired “Mad Men” actress Christina Hendricks, British actress Sienna Miller, “Breaking Bad” star Aaron Paul, and “Silver Linings Playbook” actress Jacki Weaver, recently filmed at Harry’s Westgate Pub in Brockton. Also, work has begun on “Proud Mary,” which stars “Hidden Figures” actress Taraji P. Henson.
