You didn’t think Lorde was going to embark on a North American tour without playing Boston, did you?

The 20-year-old singer from New Zealand, whose debut single “Royals” was a massive hit, announced the dates of her 2018 tour on Friday and the itinerary includes a stop at TD Garden April 3.

The Melodrama World Tour — so called because her new CD is titled “Melodrama” — begins March 1 in Milwaukee and then hits 30 arenas in the United States and Canada before ending April 15 in Nashville. There will be a “special guest” opening the shows, but the act hasn’t been announced yet.

“Royals” was such a monumental hit that even Bruce Springsteen covered it during one of his concerts in New Zealand. Also, if you haven’t read this profile of Lorde in The New York Times Magazine, do yourself a favor.
