A few weeks ago, we reported that Hulu plans to film a TV series in the Bay State. The series, called “Castle Rock,” will be based on the stories of Stephen King and be shot at New England Studios in Devens and in Orange, on Route 2 near Athol.

Well, now there’s a bit of interesting casting news.

Oscar-winning actress Sissy Spacek, who played the title role in the cult horror film “Carrie” — also based on a King novel — will star in “Castle Rock,” playing Ruth Deaver, “the estranged adoptive mother of Henry and a retired professor whose fading memories may hold a key to Castle Rock’s unsettling past,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The 67-year-old Spacek joins, so far, “Suburgatory” alum Jane Levy and “Moonlight” star Andre Holland (who plays Henry) in the show about the goings-on in the mysterious town known as Castle Rock. The fictional Maine locale is featured in many of King’s stories.
