Devin McCourty is cooking, even if the Patriots are not

Patriots coach Bill Belichick is fond of saying: Do your job. It’s something not enough players took to heart in the team’s season-opening loss to the Chiefs.

This week, Pats defensive back Devin McCourty was doing someone else’s job when he suited up as a sous chef in Boston Medical Center’s demonstration kitchen, prepping a healthy snack for adult and pediatric patients with sickle cell disease.

McCourty and his brother Jason established the Tackle Sickle Cell campaign a few years ago after watching family members deal with the devastating effects of SCD. Next month, McCourty will host the 2017 Tackle Sickle Cell Casino Night in Boston, which will benefit BMC and another local nonprofit, Next Step.
