Fans of the Oscar-winning local film “Spotlight” will have another movie about khaki pants-wearing, sleeve-rolling journalists to enjoy in a few months. A trailer has dropped for “The Post,” and it looks serious.
The Steven Spielberg film, which takes place at The Washington Post during the coverage of the Pentagon Papers, stars Meryl Streep as the paper’s first woman publisher, Katharine Graham, and Tom Hanks as Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee (whose son was played by John Slattery in “Spotlight”).
The film also stars Jesse Plemons, Matthew Rhys, and Alison Brie who plays journalist and Graham’s daughter Lally Weymouth.
The film was written by Liz Hannah and “Spotlight” co-writer Josh Singer.
