Patriots linebacker Kyle Van Noy and his wife, Marissa, teamed up with friends and volunteers to spread holiday cheer to families in need over the weekend.

More than 200 families from DARE Family Services and the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families received Christmas trees, lights, decorations, and winter coats on Saturday at Gillette Stadium.

Van Noy, who played for the Detroit Lions before coming to the Patriots in 2016, started the Van Noy Valor Foundation with his wife to improve the lives of foster children and families through events like Saturday’s Holiday Giveaway. Van Noy, who has hosted similar events in other cities, said he was excited to bring the Giveaway to New England. Saturday’s event was by far the largest, organizers said.
