Starz is developing a new drama set on Cape Cod and focused on the heroin epidemic, according to a report from Deadline.
The show, titled “P-Town,” follows a lesbian federal agent living in Provincetown. It will be written and produced by Cambridge native Rebecca Cutter (“Gotham,” “The Mentalist”) and executive produced by Gary Lennon (“Power”) and Jerry Bruckheimer TV.
According to Deadline, the plot goes something like this: a Fishery Service Agent more interested in partying than doing her job happens upon a dead body and gets drawn into the deadly Cape heroin scene.
Cape Cod is just one area of the country that has been affected by the opioid crisis, but its heroin problem has been spotlighted by a premium cable network before. In 2015, the HBO documentary “Heroin: Cape Cod, USA” followed eight heroin addicts living on the Cape.Kevin Slane can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org
