Over 200 people attended the annual benefit for the Max Warburg Courage Curriculum, among them Uri Berenguer (inset), play-by-play announcer for the Red Sox Spanish Beisbol Network and a 1995 Max Fellow, and Swanee Hunt, former US Ambassador to Austria. The Max Warburg Courage Curriculum is a yearlong language-arts program dedicated to strengthening the literacy skills of sixth-graders. . . . Meanwhile, Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez entertained the crowd at the annual We Are Boston Gala, celebrating the city’s immigrant and refugee community. . . . Former Vermont governor Howard Dean spoke at Tufts’s Jonathan M. Tisch College for Civic Life the other day, encouraging students to run for office themselves. . . . And the night before their game against the Celtics, Phoenix Suns player and former BC standout Jared Dudley and his teammate Devin Booker dined at Nick Varano’s STRIP by Strega.
