Actor Bill Skarsgard and the rest of the cast and crew of the Hulu series “Castle Rock” set up shop at the Worcester Mercantile Center for a day of shooting recently.

The 10-episode series, based on the work of author Stephen King and produced by J.J. Abrams, has been using Central Mass. as a stand-in for King’s fictional town of Castle Rock, Maine. Lancaster played host to several days of shooting over the summer; further filming is happening at New England Studio in Devens and Orange.

Shooting is expected to wrap next month, with “Castle Rock” debuting on Hulu sometime in 2018. It’s the first scripted TV series to be filmed in Mass. in 30 years. The cast includes Skarsgard, André Holland , Sissy Spacek , Jane Levy, and Melanie Lynskey.
