Flipping people is something professional wrestler John Cena does with regularity. But flipping cars? That’s a no-no.
Cena is in trouble with the Ford Motor Co. after the beefcake brawler from West Newbury sold a custom 2017 GT less than a month after taking ownership of the car — in violation of a contract Cena signed promising to hold onto the car for at least two years.
Ford has sued the West Newbury native in US District Court in Detroit, seeking more than $75,000 in damages. According to the lawsuit, Cena paid $466,376 for the liquid blue coupe in September, and made a video about taking delivery of the car. But by the end of October, the GT had a new owner because Cena flipped it — making a hefty profit — despite the contractual provision preventing him from selling the car for two years.
When Ford contacted Cena, he acknowledged his mistake. According to the lawsuit, the wrestler texted: “I completely understand and as stated am willing to work with you and Ford to make it right. My sincerest apologies,” claiming he’d sold the car “for cash to take care of expenses.”
Ford said Cena did not live up to the agreement.
“Mr. Cena has unfairly made a large profit from the unauthorized resale flip of the vehicle, and Ford has suffered additional damages and losses, including, but not limited to, loss of brand value, ambassador activity and customer goodwill due to the improper sale,” according to the lawsuit.

I don’t know how they got in the chair, since I’ve owned it for at least 10 years and my building is a brick high-rise in the city. Anyway, I placed Raid Ant Baits under the chair where I saw the sawdust. If this doesn’t work, what I could do?Continue reading »
