Everyone’s favorite misanthrope Morrissey won’t be playing in Boston after all.

The famously fickle British singer has canceled his show Thursday at the Orpheum, which should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with Morrissey’s habit of canceling or cutting short concerts for phantom reasons.

The former Smiths frontman, who’s currently on tour promoting his new album, “Low in High School,” canceled his show in Philadelphia earlier this week. A statement posted on the Orpheum Theatre’s Facebook page delivered the bad news about the Boston date.

“It is with great regret that we must inform you that tomorrow evening’s Morrissey performance at The Orpheum has been cancelled due to illness in the touring party. The Orpheum team apologizes greatly for this disappointment and wishes those who are ill a speedy recovery. Refunds are available at point of purchase.”

The cause for the cancellation in Philly was the same. Apparently someone in the touring party is, um, still ill.
