Matt Damon’s comments related to sexual harassment in Hollywood are renewing a call for the actor to be scrubbed from the forthcoming “Ocean’s 8” film.

A petition that’s been kicking around online since October is seeking the removal of Damon’s cameo in the heist flick that features a mostly female cast, including Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, and Rihanna.

The petition, posted at, alleges Damon “not only ignored but enabled his friend Harvey Weinstein’s inappropriate behavior” and takes issue with the actor’s recent comments arguing that allegations of sexual misconduct should not all be treated the same way.

“The all-female reboot of ‘Ocean’s 8’ was supposed to be an empowering film for women. The movie spotlight the talents of its tremendous female cast and showcase the savvy and prowess of its characters,” reads the petition. “Damon’s inclusion would trivialize the serious nature of the charges against sexual abusers like Weinstein — and show massive disrespect for the brave women speaking out.”

“Ocean’s 8,” a reboot of sorts of director Steven Soderbergh’s “Ocean’s” trilogy that starred Damon, will be released in June.
