Christian Bale isn’t one to look back. For example, the British-born actor, whose performance as drug-addled Dicky Eklund in director David O. Russell’s “The Fighter” earned him the Academy Award for best supporting actor, has never seen Ben Affleck in the role of Batman. Bale, who played the Caped Crusader in director Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight Trilogy,” told podcaster Josh Horowitz he was curious when Affleck donned the cowl, but he hasn’t seen “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” or “Justice League.” “I have not,” he said. “Yes, I’m interested. I have to confess I’m not a huge superhero film fan. People seem surprised at that, I don’t know why. I’ve not seen any of the ‘Avengers’ films. I hear they’re quite good. I’m quite happy just hearing they’re quite good.” Bale’s latest is “Hostiles,” a post-Civil War western by director Scott Cooper, whose credits include the Whitey Bulger film “Black Mass.”
