The opening of the new exhibit at MassArt’s Bakalar & Paine Galleries — the last before the galleries are renovated — drew a fashionable crowd that included a few of the artists featured in the show.

Among the folks at the opening of “Legacy of the Cool: A Tribute to Barkley L. Hendricks” were artists Taha Clayton, Nate Lewis, Robert Baines, Ekua Holmes, Ari Montford, curator Darci Hanna, MassArt student Ja’Hari Ortega, Edmund Barry Gaither, director of the Museum of the National Center of Afro-American Artists, MFA curator Jen Mergel, and MassArt president David Nelson, among many others.
