John Kerry has a few questions for Angelina Jolie in the new issue of Elle

What’s John Kerry up to these days? The former secretary of state is apparently freelancing for fashion magazines.

In the March issue of Elle, the 74-year-old statesman interviews actress-director Angelina Jolie, though not about her career in Hollywood. Instead, the pair chat about climate change and Jolie’s extensive human-rights work. (They got together in New York, where Jolie was accepting the Global Citizen of the Year award from the United Nations Correspondents Association.)

In the coming year, Jolie has agreed to speak to students at Yale’s Jackson Institute for Global Affairs, where Kerry teaches, and Kerry has agreed to speak at the London School of Economics, where Jolie is a visiting professor.

Jolie’s on the cover of the mag, which hits the street in time for International Women’s Day on March 8.

“I tell my daughters, ‘What sets you apart is what you are willing to do for others. Anyone can put on a dress and makeup. It’s your mind that will define you,’ ” Jolie says. “ ‘Find out who you are, what you think, and what you stand for. And fight for others to have those same freedoms. A life of service is worth living.’ ”
