Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Shawn Colvin performed songs from her new album at the Boston Children’s Museum KidStage Theater Sunday afternoon.

Colvin’s new album, “The Starlighter,” is made up of songs adapted from the children’s music book “Lullabies and Night Songs,” which she first encountered when she was 8 years old.

The book joined famed composer Alec Wilder’s arrangements with the artwork of “Where the Wild Things Are” author and illustrator Maurice Sendak and has inspired other albums that Colvin has made.
