Vic Mackey’s gone, but Michael Chiklis is still around, and the Andover native’s lined up his next TV role.
Chiklis, who was terrific as Mackey, the rogue cop in the acclaimed FX series “The Shield,” will star in the CBS pilot “Murder,” based on the British miniseries of the same name. Deadline reports that Chiklis, a BU alum, will play Detective Mason Garrity in the series, which explores crime though the often-conflicting perspectives of cops and killers, witnesses and victims, and friends and family.
Chiklis’s character is a veteran NYPD detective whose rookie sidekick, played by Teyonah Parris, prompts him to rethink his assumptions about police work. Chiklis won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his performance in “The Shield,” which ended in 2008 after seven seasons.
