The W Boston hosted a talk Monday night as part of the hotel chain’s national series, “What She Said,” which showcases women in business, athletics, film, music, and more. Panelists at the local installment of the series included Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin, James Beard award-winning chef Jody Adams, Vega Vitality founder Ashley Hilmes, and Handstand founder Tiffany Hakimianpour.
The panel, which followed a yoga session and cocktail hour, featured a discussion of personal success stories. Since taking home five medals, including one gold, as a member of the US Olympic women’s gymnastics team in 2008, Liukin has moved to the South Shore and become the cofounder of Grander, an online network of female athletes, as well as the founder of the Nastia Liukin Cup benefiting the Nastia Liukin Fund, a charitable organization within the National Gymnastics Foundation.
Adams’s work, meanwhile, can be tasted all over Boston and Cambridge at her restaurants TRADE, Porto, and Saloniki. After graduating from Brown University, she ran Rialto restaurant in Harvard Square for more than 20 years.
Both Hilmes and Hakimianpour are Boston-based business owners who made their mark in fitness and wellness. A nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital, Hilmes also runs Vega Vitality, a Boylston Street business dedicated to wellness and beauty. Hakimianpour splits her time among Los Angeles, New York, and Boston, running her app, Handstand, which connects clients to personal trainers.
W Boston says the “What She Said” series will be ongoing.
