Bo Burnham premieres movie at IFFB

Judy Wong

Bo Burnham, the 27-year-old Hamilton native who parlayed a lot of hilarious Tom Lehrer-like YouTube performances into a successful Hollywood career, was at the Somerville Theatre this week to premiere his new movie, “Eighth Grade,” at the Independent Film Festival Boston. Afterward, Burnham, who wrote and directed the movie, took a few questions from the audience. The movie stars young Elsie Fisher — she was there, too — as an awkward teen dealing with a disastrous eighth-grade year. It’ll be released in July.
