Celebrity couples split up all the times, so why does the John Cena/Nikki Bella saga continue to make headlines?

Monday, Cena, the WWE wrestler from West Newbury, appeared on “Today” and talked about the break-up with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, telling the hosts he was “heart broken out of nowhere, or for me it was out of nowhere.”

The couple, who’d been together for six years and got engaged on live TV during WrestleMania in 2017, announced their break-up last month. But over and done it’s not. There’s been a lot of speculation that the pair, who’s split has been attributed in part to her desire to have kids and his desire not to, may get back together at some point.

Judging from Cena’s comments Monday, sounds like that could be true. Or maybe not.

“For anyone out there speculating on what I am doing with my life now, I still love Nicole, I still would love to marry Nicole, I still would love to have a family with Nicole. There was an unfortunate set of circumstances where our relationship ended,” he said. “There has been a lot of speculation recently about me being seen in public and everybody is thinking like, ‘Oh, John Cena is enjoying the single life.’ No, I was supposed to be married and having a honeymoon over these two weeks. It is the first time in 15 years that I have taken a vacation.

“I don’t want anybody else. I love Nicole and I’m really just trying to support her in whatever she wants that made this fall apart in the first place,” he said. “I don’t have any other hopes other than someday maybe we can work it out.”

For those of you wondering what Bella thinks about all this, she’ll be on “Today” Wednesday.
