Are you ready for it — and by “it,” we mean some heartwarming news?
The Weymouth Police Department received free tickets to pop star Taylor Swift’s Thursday concert at Gillette Stadium, The Patriot Ledger reported.
Currently on the North American leg of her “Reputation” tour, Swift reportedly made her gift in the wake of a recent tragedy suffered by the department: the loss of one of their own, Sergeant Michael Chesna, in a July 15 shooting. Vera Adams, 77, was also killed in the shooting.
“My understanding is that they did it low-key and weren’t looking for publicity,” Weymouth Mayor Robert Hedlund told The Patriot Ledger. “There were enough to send every police officer, firefighter and extended family to the concert, and then some.”
The gesture from Swift was “absolutely generous, significant and appreciated,” Hedlund said.

The Weymouth Police Department did not respond to a request for comment. However, Quincy Police Department Captain John Dougan said Weymouth police sent concert tickets to his department as a thank-you because his officers helped Weymouth during their “hard time.”
Representatives for Swift did not respond to requests for comment.
