A big crowd turned out for the red carpet premiere of Steve Sweeney’s new movie, “Sweeney Killing Sweeney” at the Somerville Theatre on Tuesday night. Among those in attendance were the film’s director, Lisa Aimola, executive producers Kris Meyer, Kristen Williams, Dennis Serpone, Todd Domke, David Southworth, Lisa Sheehan, and Joel A. Feingold; producers Mark Carey and Michael King; actress Jordan Tofalo and other members of the cast.

Other notables included Bobby Farrelly; Tom Hamilton of Aerosmith; Boston Comedy Festival founder Jim McCue, former Boston mayor Ray Flynn and his wife, Kathy; former state treasurer Joe Malone; attorney Brian Cook; Braintree Mayor Joe Sullivan, Quincy Mayor Tom Koch; and Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone. “Sweeney Killing Sweeney” was written by Bill Braudis and features an all-star cast of comedy legends, including Tony V, Frank Santorelli, Jonathan Katz, Lenny Clarke, Nick Di Paolo, and Steven Wright.

The movie drew a lot of laughs — and a standing ovation — from the audience. If you missed the premiere, the next screening of “Sweeney Killing Sweeney” will take place at The Cabot in Beverly on Oct. 7.
