MGH’s Couture for Cancer Care raises $300,000

(Bill Brett for The boston Globe)

Caregivers and their patients hit the runway and celebrated survivorship and hope when The Friends of the Mass General Cancer Center hosted their 26th annual Couture for Cancer Care benefit Friday night at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel.

The event raised nearly $300,000, which will help pay for a wide range of supportive care services, all of which are provided to cancer patients and families at no cost. Susan Barry of Beverly and Sylvia Fernández-del Castillo of Newton co-chaired the evening, attended by 400 guests.

During the fashion show, Cancer Center caregivers accompanied their patients — the models — down the runway. TV and radio personality Billy Costa emceed with Dr. David P. Ryan, clinical director of the Mass General Cancer Center. DJ Deja provided the music, which reflected the cancer stories of each patient/model.
