Company Christmas at Pops raises over $1 million
Conductor Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops kicked off their holiday season Wednesday night with the 35th annual “A Company Christmas at Pops.”
Broadway star Laura Osnes (“Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” “Bonnie and Clyde,” “Bandstand”), Red Sox manager Alex Cora, and broadcaster Jerry Remy were a part of the celebration. Remy conducted the orchestra in a rendition of Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride.”
“New career begins Wednesday night,” Remy joked on Twitter. “Conducting a song at the Boston Pops Christmas opening at Symphony Hall. Looking forward to it!!!”
Following the Wednesday evening event, “A Company Christmas at Pops” has officially raised more than $1 million, according to a BSO representative. The money goes toward the BSO’s education and community programs.
The “Holiday Pops” season runs through the end of the year.
