Almost 20 years after John F. Kennedy Jr., his wife, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, and her sister Lauren Bessette died in a plane crash en route to a Kennedy family wedding in Hyannis Port, ABC will air a two-hour prime-time special about the late son of John F. Kennedy.
According to a press release, January’s airing of “The Last Days of JFK Jr.” will feature rare, candid videos of John and Carolyn, as well as interviews with JFK Jr.’s college roommates, his assistant, contributors to his magazine, and two of his ex-girlfriends, one of which gave her first television interview for the special.

“The ABC News documentary explores not only John’s life, but also the stressors that he was facing in his final days,” ABC News wrote in a release, “from apparent turmoil in his marriage to keeping his magazine George afloat.”
“The Last Days of JFK Jr.” will air Thursday, Jan. 3 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
