Ellen DeGeneres made one local family very, very happy this holiday season.

On an episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” set to air Wednesday, DeGeneres sent producer Jeannie Klisiewicz to Milford to surprise Fernanda Ferreira, her sister Marjourrie and their mother, Elizet, with more than $50,000 worth of gifts.

“Ellen, these ladies are some of your biggest fans,” Klisiewicz told DeGeneres. “Fernanda has written in to tell you how you have inspired this family to give back, even though they don’t have that much. They are just the most amazing women with the biggest hearts.”

DeGeneres then called Fernanda moments before Klisiewicz burst in to surprise the three women.

“We just surprised Fernanda and her mom and sister in Massachusetts,” DeGeneres said. “Here’s why we’re there with you. Because what’s amazing is even though your family doesn’t have much, you give what you can.”

Fernanda then listed some of the ways she and her family give back, including sponsoring a child from Haiti for the past eight years, regularly paying for someone else’s order at Dunkin’ Donuts, and buying someone’s breakfast every week at a local restaurant.

“Every Sunday, my mom and I go to this place down the street called Johnny Jacks,” Fernanda said. “We always pick someone who we think is in need and we pay for their breakfast. We buy groceries for families, we just [want to keep] giving back. It just makes me feel so good that we’re able to do that, because it could be me tomorrow. That could be me tomorrow.”

To thank them for their generosity, DeGeneres gifted the women a VIP trip to a taping of her show, as well as all 12 of the gifts DeGeneres had featured on the show’s “12 Days of Giveaways,” including a new TV, iPhone, and a six-day vacation.

The episode is set to air Wednesday at 3 p.m. on WCVB Channel 5.
