Billy Joel’s returning to Fenway — and he’ll be in its new Music Hall of Fame
Billy Joel will play Fenway Park again on Sept. 14, setting a record for most consecutive annual performances by a musician in residence with a sixth return trip.
As part of his visit, Joel will be honored as the first artist inducted into the ballpark’s new Music Hall of Fame, a display honoring musicians who’ve performed there repeatedly.
“Billy Joel has so thoroughly committed to Fenway Park with his pledge to perform at the ballpark annually, and this Hall of Fame dedication is a small token of our appreciation for his devotion to the City of Boston and our venue,” said Sam Kennedy, president of the Red Sox, in a press release.
The Long Island native has sold more than 150 million records, according to his website, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland in 1999.
Tickets go on sale for the general public on Jan. 17, with presales beginning on Jan. 14 for American Express cardholders and Jan. 15 for Ticketmaster verified fans.
