End-of-season discounts from thrift stores to Beacon Hill

The Thrift Shop of Boston has all women’s, men’s, and kids’ clothing and shoes marked down 50 percent through Saturday. (This means many shirts now cost $1 or $2 and some of the shoes can be had for $2.50.) Items on the shop’s boutique rack including Escada tops and jackets are half off as well (and are now around $15-$25). Proceeds from purchases benefit The Home for Little Wanderers. A couple of sales on Beacon Hill: Wish has Milly, Tibi, Trina Turk, and other spring and summer styles marked down 50 percent and denim marked down to $75. A few blocks away at Vira, spring and summer pieces from US and international designers including Yoana Baraschi, Bodice, Vertigo, and others are marked down 15-20 percent. Some Needham shops will host sidewalk sales on Saturday, with deals on clothing, home items, and more. (Look for balloons to mark the participating businesses.) Perennial Designs (117 Chapel St., Needham, 781-449-7227, will have summer silk flowers, framed artwork, and more marked down 20-50 percent outside and items marked down 6.25 percent inside (to match the savings from the sales tax holiday). The Grey Goose (95 Chapel St., Needham, 781-449-8441, will have clothing, giftware, jewelry, and more marked down 50 percent, and Taylor’s Stationery (1451 Highland Ave., Needham, 781-444-1729, will have summer clearance stationery and party goods at around 25-50 percent off.



A new destination for stylish, budget-friendly jewelry and accessories has opened in downtown Newburyport. Pretty Poppy brims with pieces both simple and ornate, including delicate stud earrings, multi-strand necklaces, studded wrap bracelets, and lots of other styles, many for under $15. Colorful clutches and i­Pad cases are on offer for $20 or less, and Scout by Bungalow bags sell for around $15-$34. Pretty Poppy is at 43 Pleasant St., Newburyport, 978-462-1385.

Next Wednesday, Artefact Home|Garden in Belmont will offer 15 percent off accessories including tabletop items, textiles, and candles and 10 percent off furniture and lighting. On top of that, the store will donate 10 percent of the day’s sales to Waltham Fields Community Farm ( Spend at least $50 or make a donation to the farm of $75 or more and be entered to win a one-of-a-kind serving board from Sudbury furniture maker Ray Bachand and silver serving pieces from the Artefact collection.
