The Garment District and Boston Costume run their semiannual half-off sale Friday through Sunday. Everything but by-the-pound clothing, costume rentals, and gift cards will be marked down. Find everything from contemporary T-shirts and sport coats to bell bottoms and ’80s legwarmers, heels and cowboy boots to masks and wigs. We recently visited Newbury Street’s new(ish) spot for budget-friendly accessories. At Lou Lou, part of a Virginia-based chain, many of the earrings cost around $15-$18 and lots of the necklaces are $15-$35; styles include chunky bib necklaces, dainty vintage-inspired studs, elegant wrap bracelets, and more. The Pashmina Store

Clothware in Porter Square hosts two trunk shows this month with discounted and full-price wares from local designers. Thursday through Saturday, clothing from Cambridge-based Tamaryn by Watzman Design will be on offer, some pieces at 25-50 percent below normal retail price. Find cardigans, vests, tank tops, scarves, and bags produced in small workshops in Vietnam. From Feb. 28 through March 2, a trunk show featuring work from handweaver Hetty Friedman will include shawls, scarves, and jewelry created in Newton and the Guatemala highlands, some at 25-40 percent off. Outerwear, dresses, and other items from Calvin Klein, French Connection, Eileen Fisher, and others were among the steep markdowns when we stopped in. The sale runs through the end of March.
