Design duo Tom Egan and Josh Linder of Evolve Residential have transformed a South End retail space using their signature moody, elegant style. Among the treasures beyond the glossy aqua door are lamps designed by sculptor Lou Bass, who is known for his modern, large-scale works set in public plazas. The one-of-a-kind, made-to-order pieces are crafted by the artist himself, in his Texas workshop. Created in steel and bronze, and mounted on acrylic bases, they glisten beautifully in their own light. Lamp by Lou Bass $1,795 at Evolve Residential, 89 West Concord St., Boston, 617-424-0003, www.evolveresidential.com.
