Looking for winter sports gear before the snow hits? This weekend’s Ski, Skate, Board & Ride Consignment Event may be a good bet. Find apparel, boots, and equipment for skiing, skating, hockey, snowboarding, and horseback riding at discounted prices. (Kids’ ski jackets will go for around $20-$50, most skates for under $25, and skis for under $100.) There will also be new and used merchandise from Sports Stop-Wenham; samples and well-priced apparel from Craft; and new and former rental items from REI. The sale runs Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. at the Cutler School, 237 Asbury St., Hamilton. (Most items marked down 50 percent on Sunday.) If you wake up Friday morning with more candy than you know what to do with, you’ll be happy to know Magic Beans hosts its annual candy buy-back Friday through Sunday. Bring one or more pounds of packaged candy to any of the store’s four locations and save 20 percent on any toy purchased that day. All candy will be donated to local food pantries and military support groups in the Boston area. Women’s sportswear and women’s, men’s, and kids’ outerwear from well-known name brands will be on offer for significantly reduced prices.
