The snowpocalypse clobbered Valentine’s Day, but devoted lingerie lovers celebrated early, trekking to the Liberty Hotel last Thursday for the sexy Fashionably Late show featuring looks from Forty Winks, a boutique in Cambridge.

As models walked the perimeter of the hotel lobby in satin and lace, guests like Adebayo Lawal , in a bespoke suit from London and Tom Ford tie, enjoyed cocktails from the bar. The evening’s uniform was decidedly black and red. Chanchan Liu , who is studying graphic design in Boston, sported a black Valentino dress and high black boots. Mariola Andoni, a business broker in Boston, wore a red cowl-neck dress with a black beaded neckline under a long black leather vest. Her vintage handbag and Uno De 50 cocktail ring were scarlet shades as well.

The lady in red, though, was Greer Simpkins, a Cambridge entrepreneur who arrived in a stunning ruby slip dress by Tommy Hilfiger. The 28-year-old said she got the dress at a gently worn clothing boutique along with her Manolo Blahnik heels and Prada handbag.

“I’m feeling very Carolyn Bessette Kennedy,” she said. “Everything is secondhand except the underwear. Champagne tastes on a beer budget.”
