Rachel Zinny and Sarah Williams are two Wellesley moms serving up a new line of tennis skirts — just in time for Wimbledon.

Spoiled Sports launched two weeks ago with a pair of all-white styles for women and girls. The preppy look is club friendly with subtle pops of color, ruffles, and box pleat details.

“These cross-over tennis skirts from the major athletic brands — you can certainly wear them all day — for tennis, to go for a run, or to do errands. But they’re not really tennis attire,” said Zinny, who started the company with Williams after the two bonded over the lack of tennis and golf apparel for their own daughters.

At Wimbledon, which crowns a men’s champion Sunday, the traditional all-white dress code rules are the strictest in the game (even off-white and ivory are no-nos). Still, Zinny, who grew up playing competitive tennis in Southern California, always wore traditional whites and said clothing options for young women have historically underwhelmed. When she took up golf in her early 20s, she found the lack of style options equally frustrating.

“A lot of golf brands offer styles that are made for the 55-and-over set,” she said. “Even for me, as a woman, it’s gotten better in the last few years, but there are not a lot of lines I like aesthetically, or for fit.”

The two skirts are available on Spoiled Sports’ website (www.spoiled-sports.com), but the women hope clubs will pick up the line as well. The company, which contracts the pattern making to a woman in Quincy and production to a woman-owned manufacturer in Everett, plans to add a line of golf wear next year.

Early sales have been “incredible,” Zinny said.

“The Williams sisters changed tennis fashion,” she said, speaking of tennis greats Venus and Serena. “People tune in to see what they’re wearing as much as the play, but there’s certainly a lot of return to the traditional. There’s always a market for that.”
