    Curves ahead

    Duncan Hughes

With an adaptability that enables him to design both traditional and contemporary spaces for his clients, it is no surprise that interior designer Duncan Hughes’s nine-piece collection for Dowel Furniture works in most any environment. The shapes combine a mid-century modern, real-world sensibility with the glamour and detail of the Art Deco era. Our favorites include the curvy Vaughan chair (in two-tone upholstery, please) and the sexy Gardner stool, with its channel tufted back. Hughes uses the Steinbeck dining chairs in his own South End home. The collection is totally customizable—there are six wood finishes, brass or nickel details, and 70-plus fabrics from which to choose. The pieces will be on display on April 10, 6-9 p.m. at Lanoue Gallery, 450 Harrison Ave., Boston, 617-262-4400, lanouegallery.com. Available to purchase at dowelfurniturecompany.com
