Located across the street from Olmsted Park and Leverett Pond, enVision Hotel Boston is great for jogging guests, who can slip out the back for easy access to the park. More ambitious runners can continue on to Jamaica Pond or even the Arnold Arboretum. Whatever route they choose, visitors will almost certainly match strides with locals since the hotel is in a residential neighborhood on the back side of Mission Hill by the Jamaicaway.
The hotel opened in July in a former nursing home that was renovated and expanded to create a 39-room property in the clean modern style that is almost de rigeur for new lodgings. The taupes and browns of the lobby lounge, which contrast with the color-stripe rug, set the tone: cool, with a hint of whimsy. Rooms, ranging from cozy doubles to king suites, are outfitted with dark wood furniture and a taupe-brown-green palette that brings the outdoors in. Suites 309 and 409 have the best park views and feature two bedrooms and two complete baths. All rooms have a good work desk, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV, refrigerator, coffeemaker, and microwave.
The hotel’s minuscule cafe behind the reception desk serves coffee and baked goods. For access to restaurants and attractions, the Green Line’s “E” trains stop almost in front of the hotel at Back of the Hill Station. Guest social events are being planned for three nights a week and may include live music, chair massages, and tastings from local restaurants.
